About Moi

Hi there!

Hello! A little about me:  I am an American who used to live in Britain, and therefore learned SO much about life and the world and my place in it during my time there. I love to crochet scarves, hats, and blankets and do crafty things.

I am also a huge foodie!  What does being   a foodie mean?  It means that I love food. I love looking at it, talking about  it,  making it, baking it, and of course eating it! I go to food festivals or  markets,  try to go to great restaurants, collect cookbooks and recipes, and  try my hand  at improving my kitchen knowledge as often as I can.  I of course, try to share my baked goods and kitchen creations as often as I can with those around me!

In addition to foodiness, I am also passionate about traveling, writing, and  languages.  I am a linguist through and through. I love the written word and  the beautiful way in which it communicates thoughts and ideas.

I thought this blog would be a great place to share with others my daily  adventures and observances whether I’m here in the US or somewhere else in the world. It’s a place where I share recipes, photos, thoughts, and ideas all under one website.  This blog isn’t just about food, it’s about life!  Well my life anyways…

By the way, all the pictures on this blog are taken by me unless otherwise stated.  Please ask before using them by posting a comment.  Thanks.

So pull up a chair, put the kettle on, dish up that last piece of cake, and enjoy my blog!  Cheers!

Cooking is wonderful and I love your presentation! You are also a wonderful entertainer. I still think about that delicious salad that Charlie and I had at your place. Mmmmm…cranberries….

Ah why thank you. 🙂 I vaguely remember this delicious salad you speak of. I think it had sunflower seeds in it along with cranberries and some other stuff. I also remember making buffalo enchiladas…Mmm…..buffalo. I think I may have to make this delicious salad once more soon!

  3. Hi, we have a lot in common. I am also from America and living in the UK (Staffordshire). I liked reading about your time in Jamie Oliver’s restaurant in Bath. I went there when it just opened, but didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant. I hope to try it when Hubby and I next go.

Heavenly Housewife–It is always nice to know that there are other Yankees living abroad like myself. 🙂 You and your hubs should try out Jamie’s restaurant if you’re ever in Bath–I, as you can tell, certainly enjoyed my experience there. Have you lived in England long? Did you find it difficult or easy to adjust to things here–particularly the food? The other day I couldn’t believe how difficult it was to find angel hair pasta!

On a non-foodie note, I read your blog today and couldn’t help but notice that you majored in English literature. I majored in French and minored in English literature and have since found it very hard to pick up a book! Nothing says ‘I’m studying English literature’ like trying to get through 900 pages of Anna Karenina on thin onion paper.

  4. Hey there YP. I have been living in England for about 7 years now. It hasn’t always been easy. Its taken a lot of adjustments, but I can finally say that I now consider England my home. I realize how much so when I go back to the US and cant wait to come back home to my hubby. Still, I love the US. As for food: you can find a lot of stuff if you know where to look. Having a Costco membership (if its in your area) is essential for us Americans :D. I find so much stuff there, hershey chocolates, chicken of the sea tuna, US cake and pancake mix. Ahhh, LOVE Costco. If you ever need help on where to find something, drop me a line, I’m sure I can help. Also, somethings in the UK r just called other stuff: cornmeal/polenta, angel hair pasta/ vermicelli.
As for books, yeah, I guess I dumbed down a bit, now I’m just a pretty face with a big appetite :D. I still love reading, but to be quite honest, I find the classics a bit irrelevant to my life. I just like to laugh and be entertained. Its great to just read for pleasure and not cause you have to (like in school).
